street maintenance

Honorable council members,

In March a Field Poll was released regarding California and its roadways. An overwhelming majority of voters feel that our roads are in poor shape and need and deserve attention.

I note the statewide poll because our city - and neighboring cities - have been "keeping down with the Joneses" for more than a decade. That is, as our neighbors let roadway maintenance slip when short on funds - originally during the 2001 recession, then again in 2008 - we did the same. Much of the peninsula now has third world roads. Actually thats unfair to the third world, where I hear smooth, flat roads are built. Hoover Street is an example of a recently paved street on which you warn your passenger not to sip that hot coffee.

Please ask Public Works to restore first rate quality to our streets.
