El Camino Real Corridor

Hello City Council Members,

Iím writing to encourage your attention regarding safe bike paths for residents along the El Camino Real corridor.

As a mother of two boys Iím always frustrated when trying to find ways to bike Menlo Park while avoiding El Camino Real which is dangerous and not possible to safely bike along. Iím hoping that you will focus efforts to create safe parallel bike routes along El Camino Real but not directly next to it. Also, please help create bike bridges to help high school kids cross this street on their way to Menlo Atherton High School.

With the vacant lots along the railroad tracks, it seems to be an easy fix to create safe two-way bike lanes that utilize this open space before the land is developed. One of my favorite things about Menlo Park is riding my bike with my family. Iím hoping the council can help ensure that our town takes bicycle lanes and bike safety a priority in the near future.

Best regards,
Julie Gosler
