El Camino Real transportation safety. Over/under passes at Sand Hill Rd and Ravenswood.

This note is regarding the solicitation for the Menlo Park community to
share ideas on how El Camino Real can become a safer and more accommodating
transportation resource for all users, including pedestrians and bicyclists,
and the recently published survey at

I am a resident of Menlo Park, on Gilbert Avenue, and regular user of El
Camino Real as a driver. As a cyclist I regular have to cross El Camino

I'd like to provide input regarding cycling. Given the traffic and
multi-lane width of El Camino Real, its highly undesirable and feels
dangerous to cycle on El Camino. It's also noisy, and not pleasant to cycle
on. Adding bike lanes would help, but for me would not induce me to cycle
on El Camino.

There are adequate routes for cyclists already particularly on Alma (where
cycle lane improvement would help) and on the Embarcadero bike paths and
University Drive.

However crossing El Camino is difficult and/or involves lengthy stop light
waits at Sand Hill Road, Ravenswood, Valparaiso and Encinal and at Page Mill
Road in Palo Alto.

The biggest improvement for cyclists would be underpasses or cycle bridge
overpasses at these points. The priority would be at Sand Hill Road and
Ravenswood (and Page Mill although this solicitation is for Menlo Park not
Palo Alto)
