Dear Andria -

*Re: Dangerous road conditions on Willow Road in City of Menlo Park*

Thank you for *finally* acknowledging that Caltrain is 100% responsible for
dangerous roadbed conditions at the out-of-service rail crossing on Willow
in the city of Menlo Park near the entrance to the Dumbarton bridge.
Leaving the roadbed
in such poor and dangerous condition for so many months indicates that
at best Caltrain is incapable of getting its act together. Caltrain may be
or worse for not having properly monitored and maintained its own property
or worse yet for being aware of the problem but for having ignored it for
many months!

In addition, the City of Menlo Park has told me that they have been
desperately trying
get this fixed, but contacted the wrong institutions so to do -- they
contacted Caltrans and
other institutions to try to get this problem resolved. So this affair
seems to indicate that your
relations with the city of Menlo Park are at best dysfunctional. I am
shocked in Caltrains'
lackadaisical attitude to NOT get this fixed ASAP given the seriousness of
the matter.
This roadbed problem not only can cause damage to crossing traffic but it
may also
cause a serious car accident if it has not done so already.

I am ccing the board of directors at Caltrain so that they have the
to address this matter in its entirety in their upcoming Feb. 5th meeting.
I have also forwarded this e-mail to the city of Menlo Parks' entire city

Kindly answer two questions for me:

(1) Have you contacted the appropriate manager in the city of Menlo park to
this matter? If so when and who did you contact to discuss this?

(2) How long has Caltrain been aware of this roadbed problem?

Thank you.

Sincerely private and concerned citizen & resident of Santa Clara county.
