EL Camino Development and SaveMenlo Initative

Honorable Council Members,   I’m writing to share my support for the Save Menlo voter initiative regarding development along El Camino Real near Allied Arts. My family has lived in the Allied Arts area for 40 years. Growth and change are inevitable but I believe there are steps that can we can take to insure our city maintains the excellent quality of life that attracts residents and developers to Menlo Park. The proposed development across El Camino from our homes is clearly outside the character of our city. While the Specific Plan technically allows this level of development, such a project is clearly against the spirit of what we residents intended in keeping our city’s character. I encourage the City Council to proactively adopt the measures outlined in the voter initiative. Our community and its leaders need to realize it is not we who must bend our vision to meet developers’ needs but developers who must bend their vision if they wish to join our community.   Sincerely,   Peter Cook   628 Partridge Avenue
