General Plan Update

Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,

Please do not hire consultants to run the General Plan Update. That
would cost the city big bucks--over a million and a half--and is a
task that can be better handled in-house anyway. As for hiring pricey
consultants for Planning issues, as you'll recall, we've been there,
done that. Few were happy with the result.
Don't city staff, the City Council, and the residents know our city
and our values better than any consultant does?

Either give this update task to the Planning Department, or,
alternatively, fire the Planners and hire the consultants.
Why pay consultants when we have in-house planners? What are we
paying them for? Surely an update of our city's General Plan is an in-
house matter.
