Honorable Mayor and Council Members:
The Menlo Park Historical Association and the Two Menlos Group are pleased
to announce an upcoming International visitor From Ireland, scheduled for
this Thursday, May 22, 2014. He is from Menlo Park, Galway, Ireland. He
returns on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
Members from our group will be hosting the event, showing him the Civic
Center, Downtown area and other parts of our beautiful city. This is his
first visit to Menlo Park, CA.
His name is Peter Cunnane. As you recall, approx. six months ago, on
October 17, 2013, the City signed a Friendship Agreement with Galway, Ireland
while Galway Mayor Padraig Conneely was here. Shortly afterwards, Mayor Peter
Ohtaki reciprocated by traveling to Galway in November, 2013.
To learn more about Two Menlos activities since then, allow us to invite
you to view the website:
You may also find of interest the MPHA website:
https://sites.google.com/site/mphistorical, or the Facebook page at
_www.facebook.com/menloparkhistorical_ (http://www.facebook.com/menloparkhistorical) .
We couldn't be more pleased about his visit and extending our hand in
friendship to this International visitor from Ireland. Next month, in June, the
Menlo Park Historical Association is scheduled to display in the glass
enclosed display case at the entrance to the Library a number of interesting
items. You may wish to stop by for a look during the month.
We are anticipating other visitors from Galway to Menlo Park, CA later
this year and will let you know if and when this comes about. Plans are
underway to CELEBRATE the one year anniversary of the FRIENDSHIP AGREEMENT on or
near October 17, 2014. This may include descendants from the original
Oliver and McGlynn families who we are in the process of contacting. If we are
successful, this truly will mark an historic day in Menlo Park, California.
