Dear City Council Members,

This is just a simple thank you for your ongoing service to our community.

This past Tuesday, April 29th, was the first time that I have stayed to witness an entire Council meeting.
I have heard about how lengthy your meetings get (understatement!) and am now convinced that every citizen needs to come sit through a FULL meeting (preferably one that lasts until 1am to really get the full effect -- although I do not wish more long meetings upon any of you) in order to better understand the complexities of what you do, and to better appreciate the personal sacrifices you all make on behalf of our City.

My understanding and appreciation for what you do has been GREATLY deepened, and this was a tremendous lesson in the civic process.

Like many other citizens, I have attended Council meetings when there was a topic of interest to me, and I would leave right after my topic was addressed.
To watch you all thoughtfully engage in nearly 6 hours of presentations (we could have all flown cross-country to New York City in the same amount of time!), and to discuss issues and policy with such a remarkable depth of understanding and open-mindedness was truly inspiring.

You are all deserving of great respect for your time and efforts.
