Fwd: Caltrain Electrification

From: domainremoved <Steve>
Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2014 11:54:43 -0700

1. Elimination of all four hazardous at-grade crossings through an elevated
track alignment, either partially or fully elevated
2. No more sounding of train horns through town
3. Quieter locomotives
4. Elimination of local diesel pollution
5. Improved opportunities for bike/ped east/west connectivity

Instead we have council members touting their green credentials and
endorsements but taking no action to demonstrate the sincerity of their
advertised beliefs.

I have noticed that Caltrain is prominently featured on the City's website.
By contrast, the City's comment letter on Caltrain electrification is laden
with the same stale criticisms of the project and fears of HSR. Had the
City chosen in 2009 to cooperate with both Caltrain and HSR in creating a
Peninsula HSR segment agreeable to all three, we might be at a point where
Caltrain electrification would be the last step in solving a number of
historically vexing problems.
Ooops, I hit the wrong button.
