Hi – I understand you will be voting/considering baning gas in new homes going forward. I think this is short sighted. There are many other things we can be doing to reduce pollution carbon emmisions etc. Newly built homes are highly efficient (I design and build homes and represent many builders of homes in Menlo Park) the older homes are the biggest offenders of wasted natural resources – I know cause I live in one myself. The homes I build have way less PGE costs associated with them because they don’t use the same amount of natural gas to fuel their homes sicne they have much better windows, insulation etc. You are going after the wrong people. Additionally, creating electricity comes with its own waste and by products and damage to the environment. I think there needs to be a better analysis of this proposal and the reprecussions it will cause to home owners, developers, business owners, restaurants etc. Our city struggles enough to be an attractive vibrant downtown with a selection of restaurants and this measure or ban certainly wont help any of the people trying to help our downtown be a place to come in fact it will likely scare business owners away. PLEASE CONSIDER WHAT YOU DOING – the pendulium is swung too far to solve a problem that could be solved in more efficient less drastic ways.

I am sorry I can not attend your meeting this evening but do look forward to some more thoughtful evaluation of this problem.
