Support the Reach Codes at Tonight's Meeting

Honorable Mayor Mueller and City Council Members,

I am writing to reiterate my strong support for the proposed reach codes
being discussed at tonight's meeting. With Peninsula Clean Energy already
providing 90% carbon-free electricity, set to go up to 100% in 2021,
natural gas (to heat water and air in buildings) and gasoline (in vehicles)
are now our two largest sources of emissions. The proposed reach codes
offer us the opportunity to power new construction with carbon-free
electricity in place of polluting natural gas. This will be a major step
toward Menlo Park reducing its impact on the environment, as well as
increase the air quality and safety of our community. Not to mention the
reduced construction costs, reduced operating costs of efficient heat
pumps, and the future-proofing that residents and businesses will enjoy by
investing in clean alternatives to gas infrastructure. Thank you all again
for the leadership you've shown on this issue so far, and I urge you to
continue forward by adopting the proposed reach codes.
