Moratorium June 11 meeting

Mayor, Vice-Mayor and City Councilmembers:                    The assurance by State Senator Scott Wiener last night in Palo Alto that his Senate Bill 50 is "not dead" but alive and well should counsel that cities are no longer free to add (to) massive job centers without proportionate nearby housing. If Menlo Park allows Facebook's proposed expansion, Menlo Park could become the "poster child" for what's wrong with local control of land use. Such action by Menlo Park would propel SB 50 (or a similar bill) toward passage. It could well lead to the ruining of Menlo Park and nice neighborhoods throughout urban and suburban California. The city government in my city of Mountain View also has helped spur and sell Senator Wiener's proposals. But Menlo Park is about to "take the cake" as champion of local land-use abuse.  Best wishes,  Gary Wesley, Mountain View (408- 882-5070) gary.wesley_at_(domainremoved)
