Red light cameras

City Council,

I support removing the red light cameras unless they can be fine-tuned to only penalize egregious red-light runners. Expensive fines for entering an intersection or turning right a few milliseconds after the orange turns red are counter-productive - they encourage speeding up to avoid the situation. In addition, the steep fines create an incentive for both the vendor and the city to increase the number of cars entrapped, to produce revenue.
