Dangerous Traffic Pattern at Willow and 101 NB On-ramp

Hi, sorry for the mass email but I thought this was a safety issue that you should immediately be aware of to prevent something catastrophic from happening. My wife was just heading eastbound on Willow road and entering the northbound 101 using the new (possibly temporary) onramp. She almost got into a serious accident with a tractor trailer semi-truck because of the way that the onramp is constructed. There is an extremely short merge lane runway space that isn't conducive to the speed that traffic is traveling. There is also limited signage for vehicles already on the 101 to advise drivers that they should be cautious because merging vehicles are put in this situation.

The semi-truck continued to travel in the rightmost lane on the 101 at a high rate of speed and showed no sign of changing course because of the onramp. My wife was almost was struck by the Semi and had to slow her vehicle to a complete stop because of this situation (which is also dangerous because of traffic behind her).

I would recommend that the merge lane be extended if possible or the onramp be shut down completely due to the safety concern.

We will ourselves do everything we can to avoid the intersection going forward but thought you should be aware for the safety of all citizens travelling through these roadways.

Please let me know that you received this email and have taken this into consideration. I just want to make sure this issue is brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities. If I don't hear back, I'll follow this up with a phone call in a few hours.

Thanks so much for your time.
