Downtown parking garage proposal

I would like to indicate my disapproval of a proposal for a downtown
parking garage. It is an expensive, ugly solution to a non-problem.
Currently it is fairly common to find a parking space within a block of my
destination downtown, and is never more than two blocks away.

With a parking garage the "best case" would be to put it smack in the
center of town, all underground so it won't be an eyesore. But even then
proponents forget that you still need to walk from your underground parking
spot to your destination. If you were to measure the distance it would be
more than the two block worst case that exists now. And of course if it is
not perfectly centered in downtown with exits in all directions the
distance to your destination would further increase.
