Santa Monica/Linfield crossing

Dear City Council-

I am writing to encourage you to prioritize the crossing at Middlefield
connecting Linfield and Santa Monica in your 2018 work plan.  This is a
very dangerous and long neglected crossing, where several serious
pedestrian/bicycle collisions have occurred.  The fire district has
agreed to contribute significant dollars to improve this crossing.  The
connection and safer crossing will dramatically improve access from the
east side of town to Burgess, downtown and to Palo Alto at the Webster

I would also like to second Mr. Weiner's suggestion to improve crossing
safety at Alma/Ravenswood and to make this too a priority work plan
item.  Mr. Weiner and I have surveyed this area and have ideas for
simple fixes that would vastly improve pedestrian and bicycle safety here.

Let's make 2018 the year we make big and meaningful strides towards our
City's stated commitment to "Complete Streets".

Best regards,

Bill Kirsch
