Recent Survey

Regarding the survey recently sent to residents, which appears to focus heavily on libraries, I can’t imagine that the answers to the questions as written would provide any useful information. Of course an improved library would provide all the services described and would be a good thing. Agreeing that those are a good thing is not the same as agreeing that the city should accept the developer’s offer of financing.
We are very active library users and have been quite satisfied with the current facilities and service. We are more supportive of making improvements to the Belle Haven branch. If money is to be spent on a library, that is where the need is.

In addition, we are totally opposed to taking money from Arrilaga in order to enable him to slap his name on another city service. Leave Menlo Park’s name where it belongs, on the Public Library and other public buildings (although it’s too late for the recreation center). If he wants to give money (and if we take it), just thank him politely and put up a plaque to that effect inside the building. The name is already on plenty of buildings at Stanford.
