Honorable Mayor Keith and Council Members:

Appearing on Facebook was a message from the newly elected Mayor of Galway, Ireland, Mayor Pearce Flannery. As the City of Menlo Park was mentioned in his post, you may find it of interest, as follows:

"To all people living in the USA and to all US citizens living around the globe and most especially to those living in or around our sister cities of St. Louis, Missouri, Seattle, Washington, Cambridge, Massachusetts, Chicago, Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Menlo Park, California we wish you a very happy and peaceful independence day and great enjoyment from the 4th of July celebrations."

What followed was a photo of the Statue of Liberty, with a bright, colorful array of fireworks in the background. Many citizens responded positively to his message, including mine extending a warm welcome to Menlo Park. He responded by saying:

"Perhaps, but I am not aware of the St. Patrick's Day itinerary just yet. Either way it would be my great pleasure to visit Menlo Park sometime soon. I have heard so many great things about it."

In prior years, the Galway Mayor has paid us a visit, including the signing of the Sister City Agreement and Friendship Agreement. As the relationship with Galway goes back nearly 150 years, it is always a special treat for them to visit us, and for us to visit them.
