This bill would essentially eliminateallcontracted services, increase the number of unionized public employees, increasecosts and pension liabilities and further burden cities with a plethora ofnewregulations.Urging action, the TheLeague of California Cities writes: The workload, privacy concerns, costs and litigationcreated by this measure places an overwhelming and significant burden onnearlyevery city department and would create a de facto ban on virtually allcontracting services.  [think tree trimming, Outstanding SwimProgram, many recreational programs, legal services, consultants etc etc. ]This bill was described in aneditorial by the MercuryNews as a Union-SponsoredBill with the clear intent: Increasing thenumber of public employees, who would be members of unions, rather thanlookingat outside services that could be more cost-effective.On Tuesday, our City Council will vote tosupport bills that regulate marijuana consumption and impairment while driving. An easy no brainer which everyone will support. The question is: Why isn’t AB 1250,called aHOT bill by the League, also on the agenda and getting the same attention? If you agree that AB1250 must be activelydefeated, let city council members and the city manager know by emailingcity.council_at_(domainremoved)
