Please move forward with previously approved Oak Grove bike pilot

Dear Menlo Park City Council,I am writing to urge you to move forward with the previously approved Oak Grove bike pilot to provide safe routes for many of our children traveling across El Camino between east and west Menlo Park. Please move forward with option 2 provided in the staff report that would continue the project as approved previously. My family recently sold our second car to be a 1-car family and only had the ability to do so because we live in a community that is conducive to non-car forms of transportation. However, some of the major thoroughfare crossings, namely El Camino, continue to be very dangerous especially for those of us traveling by bicycle. This danger only encourages families to drive around Menlo Park, including driving children to and from school. If we can make these routes safer, especially for children to travel to and from school, then more families will get out of their cars and enjoy Menlo Park on bike and foot, improving on many other problems as well (less car pollution, more active/healthy lifestyle, less traffic and need for parking downtown, not to mention fewer auto injuries). Thanks for your consideration,April Watson155 East Creek DriveMenlo Park
