Move forward with Oak Grove Pilot

Dear City Council,

It has come to my attention through my involvement in SafeRoutes that the Oak Grove Pilot is at risk for delay and possible dismantling. I urge you to commit to the decision you made in December, with the guidance of your hard-working staff, to move forward with this pilot. It is the right thing to do. Please do not let a new issue that surfaces at the 11th hour, without the presence of balanced civic input, delay you from moving forward with a potentially life saving pilot for Hillview and MA students who need and choose to bike to school. Kids on bikes who must swerve into traffic to avoid parked cars is an accident waiting to happen, and we need to do what we can to stop these risks from happening on our watch. Please use your leadership to follow through with your commitment to pilot a crucial project for the safety and well-being of our neighbors and children.

Bike lanes for students will help prevent potentially life-threatening or injury-inducing accidents. Bike likes for students will allow children to independently get to school so that their parents can get to work. Bike lines for students keep cars and congestion off our already clogged roads. Moving forward with the pilot, as planned, is the right thing to do, period.

Thank you for your service.
