Move forward with the Oak Grove Bike Route Pilot

Hello Council Members,

We are a family of five who live between the schools our kids attend; MCC, Encinal and Hillview. Our kids all bike to school. Coming from Europe, I cannot believe the traffic jam we bike past every day. Menlo Park is such a wonderful, small community yet parents are scared of sending their kids to school on bikes. Instead, the roads are clogged with SUVs and cars, blocking the vision and creating a hazardous environment for the bikers. If we can get a transition from car to bike, the routes will be better for everyone.

Having a kid bike to school gets them a great start to the day. They get some exercise, they get some fresh air, they gain independence, and they get a blank canvas mind.

Let's help parents and kids feel safe biking to school by providing them with a bike route. It will be better for everyone - bikers, car/SUV drivers, kids and parents alike! To improve our society, we have to look to maximize utility for the greatest number of community members.

Thank you!
