Environmental & Sustainability Elements of the Station 1300 Project

Dear Mayor Keith and City Council Members,
As you discuss the 1300 El Camino Project at your meeting tonight, there are a number of noteworthy environmental measures to be aware of that make this project stand out on its sustainability. These include:

  * Large Solar Installation - almost 1 MW
  * Aiming for LEED Platinum
  * Efficient System/central plant heating & cooling
  * A solid list of transportation measures including Caltrain Go-Passes, zip car / car share spaces, bike amenities.

It is also our understanding that the underground parking will not be free, which is an important step to promote alternatives to driving, and manage parking availability and convenience.

Menlo Spark does not endorse specific projects, but we hope to see transit oriented developments (TODs) move forward in Menlo Park as a critical pathway towards a healthy, vibrant downtown.

Warm regards,

Diane Bailey | Executive Director
