BMR fees

Mayor Cline and Council,

I'm glad to see that the city is addressing the need for housing in our region, and particularly glad to read of a partnership between a developer and housing non-profit to actually build housing on Willow. This is something we need more of.

On the other hand, I'm concerned with the "short cut" proposal I see from staff to radically raise BMR fees such that new projects in the city will be leveraged to support future city funded projects. As a community, we had hoped for several years now to encourage development and at the same time gain community assets; burdening projects with fees like those proposed would threaten both the development and the community assets we have spent much time identifying and encouraging.

The motives behind increased BMR fees are good, but the method looks like we're setting up for another economic failure.
