VA cutting down Old Growth Oak Trees

Dear Council Members and San Mateo County Planning and Building Department -

I live in the Menlo Oaks neighborhood in Menlo Park, and I am deeply
concerned by the news that the VA is planning on cutting down old growth
oak trees and heritage trees in our neighborhood for parking lots to
support their campus.

This is outrageous, and completely impacts the tone and tenor of our
neighborhood. It affects all of us by removing trees that provide privacy
from their operation, and has deep environmental impacts on our homes too. Is
the VA outside the same rules and procedures by which the people who pay
property taxes in this neighborhood are required to live?

Please stop the VA from doing this, and please ask them to subject their
tree cutting plans to the same regulations and open public discussion by
which we all abide!

Thank you -
Amy Baggott
