oaks at the VA

I understand the VA will soon be cutting down heritage oaks. Have they sought a permit for this? If not, they should be enjoined until they have permission---which I hope will be denied. They should look at the Menlo Atherton parking lot, where oaks were preserved and parking was creatively designed around them. Oaks are wonderful air cleaners, are drought resistant and provide much needed shade. Who doesn't look for a parking spot under the shade of a large tree????

The VA needs to respect our native plants. It is possible to happily co-exist. Menlo Park needs to adopt a "No Scorched Earth" policy.
