Safer cycling in Menlo Park

I am writing in support of the Oak Grove Corrider Pilot and protective bicycle lanes on ECR. As a community we must improve the connectivity and quality of bicycle facilities in and around Menlo Park. PLEASE affirm your decision as a Council from August and do not delay this pilot buffered bike lane project. Menlo Park should lead the way NOW.

Aside from our many existing cyclists, we are seeing bike share programs popping up all over the Bay Area. I envision, with safer routes, they will actually come to Menlo Park benefitting all by increasing fitness, decreasing traffic and pollution. Safer bike routes will also benefit our business as well. Now is the time to act. We must not only cater to cars in our city, but also to cyclists and pedestrians.

Many thanks for your attention to this matter.

Regards, Irene Searles
