Safety for Bike Riders (and walkers, runners, and others)

Dear Council Members,

I am writing to voice my concerns for safety and for sharing our roads among all of our residents.

Many of us, me included, drive cars everyday. Many of us, me also included, run, walk, cycle or even use scooters around town. As a community we need to remind ALL residents that the roads are SHARED and we need to provide as much safety and regulation to ensure the well-being of all users. I hope that you will all help to make our roads friendly and safe for all users. Really, what gives a car more rights than a bicycle if each is following the laws?

We do NOT need to be all about being FAST. We need to be all about being safe, and sharing our public works with all users. It’s good for the community, so please do the right thing and make decisions that will make our roads usable and safe for all.

Thanks for your time,

Irene Searles
