no right turns Ravenswood to Alma

Dear City Council Members: I would like to ask you to reconsider the upcoming trial of forbidding right turns onto Alma from east-bound Ravenswood. (This is the right turn just after a car crosses the railroad tracks going east.)

I understand you want to try this experiment. But the Almanac already says 200-300 cars turn there during peak hours. I am one of them.

Please experiment instead with closing off the east/west pedestrian crosswalk on Alma at Ravenswood. There is already a flagged crossing across Ravenswood from south to north just beyond the library. People who eventually want to cross El Camino on foot need to walk on the north side of Ravenswood if they are going to use the crosswalk at El Camino.

I have used the right turn onto Alma from Ravenswood for years. I can tell you from experience that VERY FEW PEDESTRIANS use the crosswalk east-west Alma at the library corner. The only place they can walk is across the railroad tracks and through the shopping center there with Charles Schwab.

Please do reconsider which experiment you will do first:
1. remove the east-west pedestrian crosswalk on Alma at Ravenswood
2. block right turns from Ravenswood onto Alma

Thank you so much for taking this issue through the discussion process again. — Susan Bryan
